What is the best non-supplement muscle building diet?
I recently moved out of the United States and have started lifting weights again. I use to use all of the good supplements(Whey protein, casein protein, pre workout, etc.) but am having a very difficult time finding them over here. Until I can find some supplements, what are some good options for muscle building nutrition?
I have been eating:
(Obviously lots of water)
Breakfast- 5 eggs(usually 5 whites, 2-3 yolks) and oats with skim milk and dried bananas
Pre workout – banana
Post workout – gatorade(to boost insulin), 5 hard boiled egg whites and banana
Lunch – Chicken breast or tofu, brown rice, stir-fried or steamed vegetables(eggplant, mushrooms, broccoli, red bell peppers, etc…)
Dinner – Chicken breast or tofu and vegetables
Snacks – peanuts or whatever else I can find that has some decent protein or nutrition
It is very difficult to find good foods where I live so this is the best that I have been able to do. Any and all feedback is appreciated. Thanks.
You have a solid eating pattern going so props to you man
my only concerns are vitamins/minerals and pre//post workout… bananas are great dont get me wrong but you need some fuel and protein to keep you going during the workout and recovery so you can train to your potential
might i suggest some tuna//fish, very low in everything but protein… im not a fan of fish but i use hotsauce and it takes great, not sure if you like hotsauce or other seasoning
also non fat yogurt with granola//fruit, there are a lot of variety in nuts/legumes ( i see you put that in snacks but didnt know what you had)
there is always online purchases for supps, and i always like to add the benefits of a multi vitamin/mineral, flax (the real thing, not oil or capsules) and fish oil… check it out

the gatorade is a good idea but there are equally good and cheaper options… first if you like the gatorade option i understand, but you piss out most of the benefits due to the surplus it gives… go half water (if you can handle the watery taste)… another option is a juice (+1 on fruit) with a touch of seasalt for electrolytes
