Homemade Nutrition Bars Recipes
Posted in Health and Nutrition on 07/20/2007 04:47 am by Steven NerenbergWhat are good nutrition numbers for a protein bar?
My mom made up her own recipe for homemade protein bars and she is thinking about selling them. What kinds of numbers do people who work out look for in a protein bar?
Carbs?
Protein?
Fat?
Sugar?
Fiber?
Most people who use protein bars are bodybuilders – not the incredibly magazine jacked ones, but in general…bodybuilders. So, the 2 main numbers are protein and carbs.
Lean muscle bars: Protein 20-30 g, carbs 30-40 g. fats and sugars should be low, and figer should be around 5 g.
Muscle building bars: Protein 40g, carbs 50g, fats 8g, sugar 20g, fiber 5g.
The reason carbs and fats are good for bodybuilders is because calories=mass. The more calories one takes in the higher potential for muscle growth.
