Question for Docs?

Does any of that stuff work that are in the health food stores for colon, or liver cleansing, really work-i.e. teas, etc.?There are so many claims that your insides are supposed to be so much healthier after, and it should be done every few months. Is that true? I know you pee and poop a lot when you take it …but does it get rid of all those bad toxins? Or does just plain old water all you need? Medical Doc. only answer please!!

The colon naturally cleanses itself roughly every 1-3 days, so additional cleansing offers little benefit, and many cleansing formulations are simply bowel irritants. Eating a high fiber diet is a much healthier alternative to cleansing. Many people claim to feel better after cleansing, so if cleansing is not done too frequently, and not done with chemical irritants, it at least has the benefit of making people feel better.
