What are some good universities of Nutrition and Dietetics major?
I live in the Seattle area, WA and I'm not having a moment easy to find local schools that have more nutrition and dietetics in the area. I have really wanted to go to a university for 4 years, not a trade school. I do not really want to go to Bastyr University in Seattle and the University Bauman in California (also online) I have researched. With my work husbands have the ability to change of residence, but I'm clueless as to good schools and my community college counselor is not the best to help … I looked @ UA Huntsville and the State Florida … others?
My daughter is majoring in Nutrition and Dietetics and I remember what we've been trying to find a school for her. Live on the east coast, so it's a little different because she wanted to stay close to home. We went to a college fair and basically went to every booth and two questions – What offer psychology (which was one of their options at the time) and offer nutrition? All schools offer psychology, but few had nutrition. Finally we made a list of about 12 schools and reduced it to seven. Applies to New York University, Penn State, Rutgers, Drexel, UDelaware, UMaryland and the University of Massachusetts (Amherst). She was accepted by all schools above, except for Maryland and thought it was because she forgot to send in the application fee (long story, but the same week that finally sent the check, he received the rejection letter). She is now his first year at NYU and loves it. Rutgers, for example, has a very good but was a little too close to home for her. She loved Penn State, but would not be caught in the middle of nowhere. And once that was accepted by University of New York, who could care less about the other schools. University of New York has an amazing program, is also very small (only 130 students in the program) and the feedback we've been hearing from my daughter is that the department is very practical to work with you and feels the program offers opportunities that could not get in elsewhere. It helps, if she wanted to live in a big city, he did not mind not having a real campus and that she really loves the program. The only thing we have discovered of our research was that in order to obtain a degree in nutrition, which essentially has to start taking classes related courses in their first year. That was another factor because my daughter told me she did not want to spend two years trying to decide what to do, because she knew what she wanted.
