How to find sugar per volume?
If this is store bought / packaged apple juice, there is likely to be a nutrition facts table on the side of the container which lists the amount of “sugars” contained within per serving.
To find the concentration one needs to calculate how much sugar is in a given volume. Depending on what units you would like your final answer to be in; this might require some conversions (and assumptions of the type of ‘sugar’).
However, this procedure does not rely on the scientific method in determining the sugar concentration…it makes for a very poor science project.
That was an answer that someone gave me but i need to kno what apparatus, etc do i need to find what i need to find to calculate and to get the sugar concentration….you feel me?
It would depend on what kind of sugar you want to detect, the simplest way (not neccessarily the cheapest way) is to make use of Assay Kits, for example if you want to measure Glucose, there are glucose assay kits commercially available, you would still need to work into diluting the solution before using the assay kits as these usually measure small amount of sugar concentrations. But by playing around with dilution you should be able to get to a detection range covered by the assay kit and from thereon make a mathematical calculation.
See reference link for an example of a glucose assay kit information from a commercial vendor (these are usually meant for detecting glucose in blood, but it should work fine for your orange juice if you dilute it enough):
But if you really crave for high level scientific analysis the second paper reference below titled “Quantitative Determination of Glucose in Blood Plasma and in
Fruit Juices by Combined WATR-CPMG ‘H NMR Spectroscopy” would be more suitable.
