Nutrition Average Salary

I have a bachelors degree in Nutrition. I am working on my masters in accounting right now; I will graduate next summer. I would like to teach basic accounting courses at a community college.
Does anyone know if I will need to get a teaching certificate? What is the average salary?
Serious answers only please!
Hi Princess,
Since the required credentials to teach at a CC vary so much, I recommend that you contact a few of the schools where you might apply and simply ask them for both their faculty degree requirements and beginning salary. Unlike the colleges referenced by your first responder, the local CC near me requires a minimum of a masters degree in the field of study. In your case that would be accounting. Many colleges also prefer to hire faculty with some practical experience. So if you have worked in accounting that might give you a leg up getting hired over a new accounting grad. Prior teaching experience is usually also considered a good thing by those doing the hiring. Unlike public schools, CC faculty don’t need a teaching certificate in any jurisdiction of which I’m familiar. You might also consider gaining some experience and access to the school you’d like to hire you by signing on as an adjunct faculty member. These days it’s not easy to get a full-time gig as a college faculty member.
