How many live cultures in yogurt?
I know benefits of live active cultures. I was eating a cup of yogurt and looked at the nutrition data. The cultures “acidophilus” and “bifidus” were mentioned. I was wondering how many individual cultures there are? I am guess, for 1 cup of yogurt, around 2,000? Any predictions?
Since there microbial you would need an electron microscope to count them, and YES they are beneficial, they ais in digestion, balancing the structure of the acids and other chemical in your stomach, I have take acidophilus tablets for years as I am slightly lactose intolerant to whole milk, but yougart,cheese and other dairy product are fine. I would not discount there benefits and enjoy them when possible, in a balanced diet they are not a calorie issue.
