my 2 yr. old is behind on speech..advice?

My son just turned 2 a couple weeks ago, he doesn’t say any words…his doctor doesn’t seem as concerned about it as I would like him to be. No one seems to care to find out why he isn’t talking, just at how to help him get it out without words (ex. sign language..flash cards…pointing) he doesn’t pick up on the sign and the flash cards he turns into a game. he is a very picky eater, and I actually think maybe the lack of nutrition/vitamins he needs for his brain to mature could be a problem, I have mentioned it to the doctors and the ones who work with him but no one seems to give me any answers….could this be why? and any tips or suggestions on how to help him learn to actually talk.? thank you.
*** he works with speech and early steps program. but no one is teaching him speech, they are doing sign, and flash cards.

Read to him every day for at least 30 minutes.
