CACFP guidelines ….?
I'm taking classes this semester, about nutrition for young children and was very excited about it until I realized that much of our focus is going to be in the guidelines of the CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food). That these guidelines are actually the optimal balance of nutrition of children, or are an easy balance and proper as it is a government regulated program? Any ideas? http://healthymeals.nal.usda.gov/nal_display/index.php?info_center=14&tax_level=3&tax_subject=264&topic_id=1364&level3_id=5170
The guidelines themselves are quite good, with plenty of fruit and vegetables, etc. The problem is how programs choose to follow.
