Nutrition Grain Bars

Nutrition critique please : )?

I am trying to lose a few pounds and figure I could use any advice I could get. Following is a list of what I ate today.. any advice, suggestions, modifications anyone could think of to help me acheive this?

breakfast:
protien bar (no sugar- its whey protien- yucky too)
coffee with half and half splenda
wheatgrass shot

snack:
one serving of multigrain pretzels

lunch:
4 slices smoked turkey
assorted raw veggies
2 tablespoons full fat organic dressing

snack:
1.5 cups fruit salad

dinner:
chicken sandwhich
with grain bread, lettuce, tomato, olive oil mayo
steamed veggies

snack:
1 cup fruit salad
tea

I work out an hour a day..
I forgot to mention that I’m lactose intolerant..

Breakfast sounds… well… gross.

Protein bars aren’t really that great for you, and splenda isn’t either. Coffee is ok, but opt for a natural zero-calorie sweetener like stevia or xylitol. Eat eggs for breakfast, with some veggies. If you don’t have time, make a protein shake. Some of them are very tasty. I usually make a shake for breakfast out of skim milk, chocolate whey protein, a raw egg (optional) and 1/4 cup of fruit.

Your morning snack wasn’t great either. Pretzels and other dry foods are aweful at making you feel full. Load up on water-filled foods. A good morning snack would be a can of tomoto juice and a string cheese, or a cup of plain low-fat yogurt with fruit mixed in.

Lunch didn’t sound bad at all. You did good there. Soup is another great choice. Low in calories but fills you up. Just watch the sodium.

Afternoon snack was ok, but try to add some protein, like a handful of nuts.

Dinner sounds good. Check to make sure the bread doesn’t say “enriched” in the ingredients. You want 100% whole wheat. Maybe instead of mayo, try hummus, or mash an avocado. Both are quite yummy and much healthier.

Snack was good again, but again, add a bit of protein. It helps you feel full.
