Nutrition Gymnasts
Posted in Health and Nutrition on 01/20/2008 09:51 am by Steven Nerenbergam i anorexic or developing it?
i have been on a diet for 10 weeks. i was planning on just reducing my calorie intake slightly over a long period but i ended up eating no more than 500cal/day which keeps me feeling comfortable. i lost 1.5kg within the last week alone and looking in the mirror now i am get really excited that my ribs, hips and collar bones are starting to show. i reconise this is unhealthy but i cant help wanting to be thinner. my family hasn’t got a clue, my mum just thinks that im really interested in food nutrition and suggests that i become a nutritionist because i spend hours looking up calories and weight loss tips. i wear baggy clothes and don’t socialise because i feel so insecure and don’t have the energy. i have a history of binge eating/compulsive overeating and fasting. i also am an ex-gymnast. my bmi is 18 and i feel it is not good enough. what do you think?
I think that you should go see a doctor. 500 calories a day is definitely not enough to sustain you and i don’t know how much you weigh or how tall you’re but i’m pretty sure that 18 as your BMI is underweight. A friend of mine started off eating very little and then ended up in hospital because she became anorexic.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to lose weight, but you really should do it the healthy way. Go see and doctor and discuss it with him/her.
