Nutrition Mission

nutrition mission
your opinion on the mission to mars and beyond.?

is it possible to prolong human lives through stem cell technology and nanotechnology combined? since space has alot of radiation; maybe we can isolate the brain and enclose it in a lead containment unit which would keep the brain alive( stem cells repairing the brain)nutrition. control: neural interface or maybe even interface through complete spinal chords.

only if there was some kind of glue to repair severed spinal chords.

You can imagine simply recording all of the information in the brain of your astronaut and then sending a rocket containing only the mechanical requirements to assemble a cell capable of being grown back into a human – and then “restoring” the information to that new brain.

Far fetched? Sure. So were communications satellites until the late Arthur C. Clarke dreamed them up. He also crated the truism “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”

He also talked about someone’s else’s idea that we might actually put together a really long “string” connected to Earth on one side and in orbit on the other, strong enough to act as the foundation for an elevator into space.

He said: It will happen about 50 years after people stop laughing at the idea.

There are a LOT of engineers out there who aren’t laughing now: http://www.physorg.com/news176545232.html

Personally, I think we’re much more likely to create technology to block space radiation before we get to the point where we can isolate the brain. Alternatively, you can imagine simply accelerating at 1G continuously for half the trip and then decelerating at 1G until you get there – which would take a small number of days rather than years. Of course that requires a tremendous amount of energy, but think of all the current projects there are out there trying to develop cold fusion. In any case, you’d be exposed to radiation but for far less time – perhaps less radiation than the Apollo Astronauts were exposed to.

The race for technology is never dull!
