Why Koreans peel apples?

I've noticed that families in Korean dramas always peel the apples before eating .. or perhaps East Asians in general and Japan as well? I feel like it takes a long time, and the apple does not taste the same, plus nutrition benefits for the skin? of course, washed the apple before eating to be sure that no chemicals, but it is actually removing skin necessary? same goes for potatoes, peaches, etc. Do you eat the rind or not?
