The Sneaky Chef. What do you think about the book?
I bought the cookbook since my 2 year old daughter changed her eating habits basically over night. Its been incredibly hard to get anything nutritious into her.
So Im reading these recipes and anyone who has this book knows there is:
an orange puree-made of sweet potatoes and carrots
green puree-spinach, peas, broccoli
purple puree-blueberries and spinach
white puree-white beans and cauliflower
and so on….
anyway, you make all these purees ahead of time and then add them to kiddie food like mac n cheese, baked goods, mashed potatoes etc…
but these recipes are calling for like only 3 tablespoons of these purees into full batches of mashed potatoes/pasta sauce/brownies.
No doubt these purees are good for you but what nutrition can you possibly be getting if there is only 4 tablespoons of good stuff in an 8 serving batch of whatever it is?
i dont get it… is this really even worth it?
Hiya, I don’t have the book, but I don’t get the point…how can you make them eat something as they get older in life if you are always sneaking it in?
I think you’re right, the couple of tablespoons isn’t going to do much, BUT it will still get it in them.
Maybe try another technique, I saw on “Super Nanny” this kid wouldn’t touch anything. So what the family did, was to all sit down at dinner and the little boy could take 2 bites of something he liked, then he had to take 1 bite of something he wasn’t fond of. When he did, the whole family cheered and made a big deal out of it. It made dinner fun for the boy and made him feel good, like he did something spectacular.
I think as parents, we do our children no good by letting them rule the house and say what they will or won’t do. You are the Mom and you need to see to their nutritional needs. Maybe by playing some type of game like the above will let you get that pickyness under control before it takes control of the home
