Nutrition Twizzlers
Posted in Health and Nutrition on 01/21/2010 11:06 pm by Steven NerenbergWhat does “Kosher Status: OU” mean on a package of Twizzlers?
I got a couple of individually wrapped Twizzlers, but I wasn’t sure if they were made with gelatin or not. The Twizzlers website listes nutrition facts, but not ingredients. At the top of the panel it said “Kosher Status: OU.” What does this mean?
Is there anyway if I can tell if the product is vegetarian or not? Or just pork-less?
OU is the mark of a company that certifies foods as Kosher. It is like an endorsement (like the Good Housekeeping Seal) that it was tested by a neutral third party.
It gives some people more confidence that the food really is Kosher and not just something the manufacturer claims.
