I’m doing my animal nutrition college assignment and i need to write about how cow’s teeth differ from cat’s and dog’s teeth.
I know that dog’s, like humans, have milk teeth and at four months start to get their adult teeth, but is that the same for cows? do their teeth FALL out and new adult ones grow and if they do are their more adult teeth than the original milk teeth??
This is only a small bit in my assignment, so no need for lots of info
my brain is already dead from being over loaded with loads of work X_x lol
Yes
Cows teeth do change over time.(often times they are able to estimate the age of a cow based on the position and wear of her teeth)
Young ruminants have 20 milk teeth (also called deciduous dentition)(8 total front and 12 “premolars) which will be replaced by perminant teeth over time. (32 total so the above plus the addition of three more molars on top and bottom of each side)
