Certificate in Public Health???

I am thinking of doing the Certificate in Public Health program online because I can’t seem to find schools that offer one in California. Is it worth getting a Certificate in Public Health? Will it enhance my resume and job opportunities? I already have a B.S. in Nutrition. I don’t want to do Master’s in Public Health because I don’t want to take the GRE, and plus it will be harder to get in the MPH program.
I have a learning disability, and I tried my best to do well in the undergraduate level but I earned a low GPA. I want to expand my knowledge and take classes in the future.

Any further education is never a bad thing! A certificate would absolutely give you something extra to work with on your resume!

Even though you said you don’t want to pursue the MPH, I want to tell you about a program that you might consider. Check out American Military University at:

They have at least a couple of degree levels offered in Public Health, and I am actually earning the MPH myself through them now! You do not have to be in the military to be a student with them, and their program is fully accredited and highly respected!

PLEASE don’t be afraid to pursue the Master’s level due to the GRE! I didn’t make all that high on the GRE, but I still got accepted into two different Master’s programs! (I completed one already at a different college, and I’m in my second with AMU).

Your previous GPA says more about your abilities than anything, and standardized tests like the GRE only show what you can’t do, instead of showing what you CAN do! The Master’s level will do a tremendous amount more for you in your lifetime! The B.S. in Nutrition, however, is an excellent education that you’ve earned….congratulations!

I must also recommend the Univ. of Phoenix, since I am a faculty member of this fine university! I am not sure if we have a degree in Public Health, but we offer a large number of degrees online in areas that might appeal to you!
