how do you know if you have a tapeworm?

i have done some research on this. it says there are no outward symptoms of tapeworms, but you see the segments of adult tapeworms in your poop. what do these look like? ive noticed little white balls in my poop occasionaly.
i got really constipated in january and went to the doctor and diagnosed that i was getting poor nutrition (college freshman) and since then, i havent really been constipated, but about 30mins-1 hr after i eat i get a stinging abdominal pain. could i have tapeworm??
