How do I win an essay contest?

I am in 8th grade (2nd year high school in the Philippines) and we are having an essay contest in our school, the topic is about nutrition in kids. I don’t know what the prize is, probably a medal or an award (yup, not a scholarship or a trip to someplace). How do I write my essay successfully and win first place?? (I was actually born in California)

I have won many essay contests over the years…

Grammar is a must, obviously. In a speech you can get away with some stuff, but an essay will be scrutinized.

I assume this will be an informative essay? Or are you advocating a solution to a problem?

Keys to a great essay are an attention-grabbing introduction, a closing paragraph that leaves a great impression, and a body that follows one central theme. You also need good flow between ideas, you can’t just jump from paragraph to paragraph.
