Joe is a 17yr old who lives at home with his parents and younger sister. He has no prior medical problems but recently complained about lack of energy during sports and athletic activities at school. He has been scheduled to meet with a nutrition counselor, becasue his pediatrician recommended it. When he arrives he shares his food diary, which indicates that he skips lunch on the days that he wrestles after school. Otherwise, he eats the same meals each day – black coffee and sugar-sweetened cereals with whole milk for breakfast, a luncheon-meat sandwhich and two candy bars on days when he eats lunch, and a typical family meal for dinner.
Well good gawd, lok at what he’s eating!!!!!!! He’s full of freakin’ carbs and sugar. Of course he’s going to be tired. Make him eat better food, cut out all the sweets, replace them with fruit and vegetable and drink more water. I just saved you $200.
