A normal person should have 2,400 mg of Sodium per day. Since I have prehypertension, I am very careful with my diet and I want to limit my diet to 2,000 mg sodium per day.
I brought a footlong Subway Turkey Breast with Herbs & Cheese Bread, lettuce, onions, olives, tomatoes, vinegar(no cheese, no pickles, no mayonnaise, no mustard), and I ate half of it (6 inches). Looking at their nutrition fact on their official website, 6 inches of what I order already have 1,000 mg of sodium, a foot long is double (2,000 mg of sodium). Imagine if I added swiss cheese & pickles……This is just for lunch……How are they heatlhy? one lunch can max out my sodium quota for a day or …..then I don’t know what I can eat for dinner……..
Is there sandwich a healthy choice for many people except people w/ hbp?
The reason their sodium counts are high is because of processed meats. I don’t think that subway would count as a heart healthy diet. It may make sense calorie healthy but if you are looking for heart healthy you need to stay away from any processed meats. When I say heart healthy I am including problems with high blood pressure. You could eat one of their vegetarian subs with no problems. It would be low sodium.
